Salt Studios 2012 Drama Extravaganza!

Salt Studios Drama Academy is owned by my very dear friend, Nicole Bekker. Every year she holds an amateur evening where her students get to showcase the various monologues, dialogues, choral items and mimes they have worked on during the year. It is always great fun and lots of entertainment to see little ones from as young as 3 years old up on the stage. This year she held it in a small theatre with professional lighting and music and the performers and audience both had fun alike!

Milan - 7 weeks old!

I cannot say it enough... I love my job!!!

I so enjoyed photographing little Milan and her parents.. She is an angel and just so beautiful. I was looking down at her while I was rocking her to sleep and she was so peaceful, content and stunningly beautiful lying there in my arms. Here are just a few of the lovely photographs I got of her.

Look ... I am Growing

We're fast approaching the end of the year and the holidays! The weeks just seem to be whizzing by and I've been neglecting my blog a little. I have lots of sessions booked before Christmas so I will be even busier but I really just love my job. Even while I write this I am preparing my studio for a baby shoot of a precious little 7 week old tomorrow morning. So exciting.

Here is my little 7 month old. Wow she has grown. She sits confidently now and has even started scooting herself around the room. Every now and then she reaches just a little too far and lands on her head. She doesn't even cry but just gives a few distressed sounds to get my attention. She is an absolute joy and a real blessing!

Free Birth Photography Session!

I am so excited by this new service that I am able to offer and I cannot wait to get started! To begin with I am offering free birth photography sessions to 3 lucky moms! But before we get into that let's start at the beginning!

What is birth photography?
Birth photography is the capturing of all the once in a lifetime moments surrounding the birth of your new baby. It is not ew, it is not gory, you are not exposed, embarrassed or made to look like a beached whale! The photographs will be some of the most moving and emotional photos taken of you that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

Why Birth Photography?
I have two wonderful children so I can tell you first hand that a birth experience can go by in a blur where your focus is centred on you, your contractions and your baby. Once your baby is delivered you are normally exhausted both physically and emotionally and you land up missing out on things like baby being weighed and measured, the first bath and dad's first cuddle. Dad is also just as emotionally involved as you are and on top of trying to enjoy the whole experience he is also trying to capture beautiful photographs in what is often horrible lighting. A birth photographer can capture everything that is going on around you while you can both relax and focus on the miracle of giving birth.

What's on Offer?
I have been granted permission by Rhino Park Private Hospital in Windhoek to photograph you, dad, baby and grandparents from the moment baby is born. At this point I may not be in the delivery room with you or theatre if you have a Cesarean Section but that may change in the future.

I will photograph from straight after baby is born and capture moments like baby's first bath, cuddling with daddy, first cuddle with mom, tiny hands, feet, ears and eyes and meeting siblings and grandparents.
