Twee Woelige Rooikoppe (Two Lively Redheads)

Lizel phoned me and said she had 'twee woelige rooikoppe' and she was looking for a photographer prepared to photographer her family and do it before Christmas. I literally had one spot open and she jumped at the opportunity and even paid up front in full just to make sure she got that one last space. I went out the day before the session to have a look at a new location and immediately saw some great photo opportunities especially with two lively redheads.
Marius-Dylan is a wonderful lively but quite serious little 3 year old. He took one look at the water and just wanted to splash and play around in it. Dad was amazing and patiently showed him how to throw little stones into the water.
Lorna-Anne, a precious 14 month old, couldn't wait to join boetie and was eagerly copying his stone throwing.
They were both quite happy for me to photograph them so long as they weren't required to look into the camera. A tip for those parents wanting to capture their children on camera is to never tell them to smile. You will get all kinds of weird and wonderful faces which they think are smiles but really are not! Just let them play, watch patiently and the right moment will come along where they will look at you quite spontaneously and give you a gorgeous smile. And you can capture who they really are when they are absorbed in what they are doing and not trying to pose for you.
Throwing up in the air is always a hit with the children. Every time without fail they ask for more and more and more and Dad has to beg for mercy.

 Big feet...little feet
With much persuading and cajoling we got Marius-Dylan away from the water and off to a shaded spot for some absolutely priceless moments.

Here are my two absolute favourites...

December was a really busy month so look out several more blog posts including maternity photo sessions and a brand new 10 day old.
