Creative Birthday Photo Session Packages

My birthday is my favourite day of the year. I get to have loads of fun and spend it with my whole family. Celebrating your little one's birthday should be something fun and memorable. I actually think that the first birthday should be your party congratulating you for making it through the first year!

Thank you to my client and friend, Emma, for inspiring me to create two photography packages just to celebrate first and second birthdays.

Master Artist Birthday Package
This one is huge fun and a huge mess but oh! so worth it. I provide your little one with a large piece of canvas and generous blobs of gloopy paint. You then place them on the floor and let them go crazy.
After they have decided that they have had enough of this mess, you can give them a nice warm bath and dress them in something a cleaner. I have a cute bathroom and a fully equipped baby changing station.
You leave the canvas with me to dry and collect it a few days later. It is ready to hang. You then have a masterpiece to hang in your home.
Artist: Isla
Age: 1
The entire package includes:
  • A very messy, loads of fun, 30 minute studio photo session.
  • A large canvas and gloopy paint.
  • The final masterpiece block mounted and ready to hang.
  • A USB with retouched photographs.
  • One 13x18cm photographic enlargement.
  • N$400 print credit.
  • And of course, a free, warm bath with fresh, fluffy towels for all those who might need it!
Just quick note on Print Credit: There is little point in having your photographs on a disc in a drawer. They should be on your wall where you can enjoy them every day. Print Credit can be used towards printing your favourite images. I have a large selection of products to choose from.

This is ideal for a first or second birthday and siblings are welcome!

Price: N$2090 all inclusive

Cake Smash Birthday Package
An all time favourite first birthday photo session is the Cake Smash. This is just as much fun as the Master Artist.
The cake is a vanilla sponge iced with cream to reduce the amount of sugar the little ones actually eat.
I roll out my large white backdrop and we present your precious one year old with a beautiful cake that is just aching to be smashed and have little fingers squige in it.
After they have decided that they have had enough of this mess, you can give them a nice warm bath and dress them in something a cleaner. I have a cute bathroom and a fully equipped baby changing station.

The entire package includes:
  • A somewhat messy, fun, 30 minute studio photo session.
  • A double vanilla sponge cake, iced with cream and smarties.
  • A USB with retouched photographs.
  • One 13x18cm photographic enlargement.
  • N$400 print credit.
  • And of course, a free, warm bath with fresh, fluffy towels for all those who might need it!
This is ideal for a first birthday and siblings are welcome!

Price: N$1990 all inclusive

NOTE: Do not forget to bring along a change of clothes for baby and yourself. Things will get messy!

1st Birthday | Jesse Turns 1!

Mr Jesse's mom warned me that he was a busy little man and was already running around at 10 months old. But she did not stress just how busy he was. My goodness me, he certainly had me on my toes and tested my photography skills! But you know something...I loved every minute of it. And I absolutely love the resulting photographs.

I set up this little scene and then his mom brought out these red braces and they are just so perfect.
He didn't stay still for one moment so I rolled out my large white canvas backdrop which gave him a large area to play and run around on while I rolled around on the floor with my camera.
I love this typical baby face, serious concentration, slightly open mouth and complete fascination.
I just love this photo...little finger up and he was telling us a very serious (totally incomprehensible) story!
 Such a beautiful family.
Love it, love it, love it!!!
I had to keep hauling out new toys, new scenes and new props to keep this little guy's interest. He thoroughly enjoyed the vintage wheelbarrow and being pushed around the garden.

Thank you so much for allowing me the privilege of photographing your son on his very first birthday. It was an awesome session and he is adorable.

Toddler Photo Session | Neelsie - 13 months old!

I think Neelsie might be my new favourite little boy to photograph...but I have a picture of Wien next to me and it's just so hard to decide. I think they'll both have to be my favourite! Neelsie is just 13 months old and he is positively edible. He's happy, easy to please and found my daughter's hairband that I tied around my camera most fascinating. He looked straight into the camera almost every single time.

I just love this set up with the toys and the blue bunting. Little boys thoroughly enjoy it and it really helps them warm to me and my big black camera.
With Oupa and Ouma. He just adores them. Just like Wien got fixated on my lens cap and it was the theme for his session, little Neelsie fell in love with this blue ball. It was his companion until he discovered...
...my little riempie chair just the right size for a one year old. He was not going to get off that chair for anything!
Blowing bubbles and bubbles and more bubbles!!
Can't you just eat that face up? And look at those blue eyes. I normally brighten eyes up a little to make them pop but this little man's eyes are so amazing that I didn't need to do anything!
This is his own personal Oliver the Owl hat his mom ordered for him to wear for the session and take home. He looks so cute.
 With Mama en Papa.
Aren't baby feet so squishy and soft and you just can't help but touch them and kiss them?
Oh my goodness what are they doing to me? Will somebody please rescue me?
I thoroughly enjoyed this session. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of photographing your lovely family.
Stay posted for three newborns and the return of the Heyman Twins for the next session in their Watch Me Grow series. You can sign up below to get automatic updates.

Wien Turns 1!! Smash that Cake!!

Wien, who I photographed a few months ago, has turned ONE! He came in for his fist birthday photographs and a Cake Smash session and we had some good laughs...

I must say this is one of my favourite little boys to photograph. He often looks straight into the camera and smiles or laughs. He interacts with me, climbs all over me and is just fun to be around!

This little man fixes his attention one thing and try as hard as you might there is just no getting him to focus on anything else. Last time I photographed him he was so attached to his little blue stuffed toy. This time.... he found my lens cap to be immensely fascinating. Not a single tactic we tried could pry it out of his hands and it became the central theme for most of his session.
Oh, I could just eat him up!!

Time for the cake. He was just so excited...
until he touched the cake and then he was thoroughly disgusted with this stuff on his hands! It took some very serious persuasion to get him to consider trying some and playing with it so we could get some fun photos.

This is a busy month so sign up below to get all the latest cutie pie photos as I publish them.

Just because they are so special...

When my eldest daughter was born I faithfully took a photo of her on every Friday of the week for her first year. I then started to build up a collage of her as each month went past. I framed it and hung it in the passage. I absolutely love that collage. Each time I walk past it I stop and remember one or other time or moment in the first year of her life. I get to relive that priceless first year over and over again.

Then when my second precious angel came along I did the same thing. I completed her collage a little while back but only managed to find the frame matching her sister's collage today. I have just hung it on the wall. I look at the two collages and tears come to my eyes and I focus on just how precious, actually how priceless beyond measure, my two children are.

I thought I would share these two collages with you. The photos don't need to be professionally taken. They don't even need to be perfect. All they need to do is bring back a memory that makes your heart glad and brings tears of joy to your eyes.

Watch Me Grow - A full year!

This series of images is beautifully framed and hanging on my wall in my home. I walk passed it several times a day and marvel at the year that is passed. Each image brings back memories that make my smile and feel warm inside. I offer Watch Me Grow packages to my clients and I think they are such a beautiful add-on to any newborn session.
